Metaplanet Hits 8,888 BTC, Overtakes Jack Dorsey’s Block
Metaplanet has officially surpassed Jack Dorsey’s Block, Inc. to become the eighth-largest corporate holder of Bitcoin. The Tokyo-listed firm now holds a total of 8,888 BTC.
The company recently disclosed the purchase of an additional 1,088 BTC. It paid an average of $104,079 per coin in the latest transaction.
Bitcoin Holdings Grow 225% This Year
Metaplanet has been increasing its Bitcoin holdings rapidly in recent months. In May, the company acquired 555 BTC for $53.4 million. The average price for that purchase was $96,134 per BTC.
Since the beginning of 2024, the firm’s Bitcoin yield has grown by 225%. Its aggressive buying strategy has taken it close to its year-end target of 10,000 BTC. At the start of the year, Metaplanet held fewer than 2,000 BTC.

Metaplanet Secures Funds via Bonds
To fund these acquisitions, Metaplanet has issued a series of financial instruments. It recently announced $25 million in zero-coupon ordinary bonds. This adds to its earlier fundraising activities through zero-coupon bonds and stock acquisition rights.
Since early 2024, Metaplanet has raised more than 35 billion yen, or about $244 million. These funds were raised with the help of Evo Fund, a financial partner.

DeepSeek AI, a predictive analytics platform, has provided projections for Bitcoin’s price in 2025. Using machine learning, sentiment analysis, and economic data, the platform analyzes potential future trends in digital assets.
Focusing on Bitcoin, DeepSeek AI outlines three possible scenarios for its 2025 price. The base case estimates a range between $100,000 and $150,000. A bullish scenario, described as “hyperbitcoinization,” projects a price of up to $350,000.
In a more extreme scenario, the price could reach $500,000. These forecasts are based on factors such as institutional adoption and broader acceptance of blockchain technology in finance.
