US government turmoil stalls thousands of export approvals
Reuters reports from sources that the US government turmoil stalls thousands of export approvals:
- The backlog is hurting US exporters and signals a deep dysfunction at the US Commerce Department.
- Shipments of AI chips from Nvidia are the most high-profile example of licenses not being approved
- Sources said that this week no licenses have been issued and billions of dollars of AI chip orders are at stake.
- The backlog is reportedly viewpoint the us in over three decades
Perhaps the report is a bit exaggerated from the "sources" . I don't think the demand will suddenly disappear, but with all the trade deals going on, and Commerce Sec. Lutnick being involved, I can imagine things are a "whack a mole" status where you might hit one, but many others don't get hit (or go on the back burner).
